As we informed you a few weeks ago that BlackBerry was releasing a touchscreen in early 2008. The Toronto Star reported a few days ago that this announcement was coming soon.
The speculation is coming from a document and photo leaked online by Vodafone Group PLC in Europe that details the carrier’s 2008 handset lineup. The leaked RIM offering has the traditional look of a BlackBerry with its full-sized keyboard and smaller screen, but adopts the iPhone’s sleek black and steel motif.
The Vodafone document also reveals other forthcoming smartphone devices from Hewlett-Packard Co., Nokia Oyj and Palm Inc.
Vodafone spokesperson Ben Taylor confirmed that the leaked document came from the British-based carrier, which owns part of Verizon Wireless in the United States. “It was an early draft of a road map for 2008,” Taylor said.
