At an event this morning we got our hands on the upcoming Samsung Omnia. This will be released very soon through Telus and Bell. You can check out the quick video we captured (sorry about the glare) and believe this is a great advancement for Samsung (much better than the Instinct).
Many key features make this a device to consider: Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional for your e-mail and documents (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), 5 megapixel camera with Auto-Focus, Flash and Video Capabilities that you can upload to YouTube, Flickr & MySpace directly from the device. The actual screen size is 3.2 inch touchscreen with a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels. In addition, as you’ll see on the video is has an accelerometer, handwriting recognition. The OMNIA comes with 8GB of internal memory with a staggering capability of holding up to 24GB.
The most impressive feature about the OMNIA is the widgets. These are located on the left hand side of the device and are basically applications that you can drag and drop on the desktop of your phone. For any quick access to the FM radio, Stock, Weather forecast, GPS, internet (Full HTML Browser) etc… this will help you get to the places you love faster.
There are a couple videos below. The first if the hands on with the upcoming TELUS version of the Omnia. Also, it seems that Bell will be releasing an NHL widget for their version that wil give you unlimited video content and updates, so you can expect a promo offer to come. The second video is Max Karlin of Samsung Canada going over some additional features. We’ll have more info on pricing and an official release date shortly:
