RIM has announced their Q1 2009 results and they shipped 7.8 million devices and added about 3.8 million BlackBerry subscribers to bring their total account base to about28.5 million. Net income was a staggering $643 million, a 33% increase from the same quarter last year ($482.5 million), while total revenues in the quarter were $3.42 billion (down from $3.46 billion last quarter).

We are particularly excited about the strength of our product portfolio for fiscal 2010 and we are looking forward to driving continued growth and profitability in our business throughout the remainder of the year.”
