RIM has acquired Toronto-based Torch Mobile and this will help them improve the BlackBerry mobile browser. On the Torch Mobile company site they say: “Torch Mobile is excited to announce that our company has been acquired by Research In Motion (RIM), one of the most renowned mobile technology companies in the world. Our team of developers will join RIM’s global organization and will now be focused on utilizing our WebKit-based mobile browser expertise to contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the BlackBerry platform.”
It was only last week that we heard again that RIM was going to add Flash and Silverlight to their mobile browser and get it up to speed with the iPhone’s Safari browser. This addition of Torch will certainly help speed things up!
