At RIM’s BlackBerry Developer conference in San Fransisco co-CEO Mike Lazaridis took the stage and revealed some interesting statistics:
– Over 115million BlackBerry devices sold to date (over 12 million just this past quarter)
– #1 smartphone in North America
– 35 million users for their BlackBerry App World: 1.5 million apps getting downloaded per day
– Over 300,000 registered developers across the world
– Over 28 Million active BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) users worldwide
– increasing BBM stats show 1 million added per month (2,000 new BBM users per day)
– Developers will now be able to distribute their app via BBM
More importantly RIM has introduced their new tablet called “PlayBook”. Here are the specs:
