RIM’s upcoming BlackBerry PlayBook is beautiful. Finally had some hands on time with it at their booth at CES. The PlayBook is incredibly fluid, crisp, light and the experience is brilliant in person. The hype is well worth it and now this tablet just needs to be launched (still sometime in Q1). For us Canadian, Rogers is the only carrier that has confirmed they will be releasing the PlayBook.
The specs have been mentioned before and you can check out the 5-minute video demo of the PlayBook in action: 7-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1024 x 600, powered by QNX technology, 1GHz Dual Core Symmetrical Multiprocessor with 1GB RAM, 3 megapixel front facing and 5 megapixel rear facing camera (both cameras are capable of HD video recording), runs with Flash and AIR and offer a full web experience, out of the box support for BES, WiFi.
In addition to this, shot a quick demo video of the BlackBerry “Bridge”. This allows you to create a connection between your Blackberry device (in this case the Torch 9800) and the PlayBook – this is all done over Bluetooth. RIM says this is 100% and NSA certified (National Security Agency) and you can access messages, calendar and BBM.
