Koodo Mobile will be releasing several new devices soon. One of them will be the LG Optimus One (their first Android powered device). In addition, Koodo will also be launching the BlackBerry Pearl 3G (9100). No dates are confirmed for either of these but it’ll be in the next few weeks.
In regards to how Koodo positions themselves they are “Canada’s decidedly different, pay for what you need wireless company”. This is the tag line they usually use when a new device or initiative is introduced. It’s true though, they do have a couple options available of how you can pay for your wireless device and other carriers have followed their lead when it comes to the Tab payment model. We’ve been informed of a slight shift in the way Koodo will be marketing themselves to the public.
The “El Tabador” character will still be around but will be focusing on communicating a green message to the masses. Koodo will soon launch a new environmentally friendly program and also be positioning themselves as a green company. The first step will be replacing the Samsung Intensity that’s currently in their lineup with the new eco-friendly Samsung Evergreen. No official word on when this will be officially released.
As for specs of the Evergreen, this is made from 70% recycled plastic and is packaged in 80% recycled material, has a 2.4-inch QVGA screen (resolution of 240 x 320), slide-out QWERTY keyboard, MP3 player, holds up to 16GB with a microSD, 2.0 megapixel camera with video capabilities and only weighs 117 grams.
So it sounds like Koodo will be the low-cost/flexible payment/eco-friendly Canadian carrier.
More soon!
