RIM announced that the BlackBerry App World is now available in 101 markets around the world. Impressive number as they work their way through the competitive app market. In January RIM said that 17,000 apps were available and 2 million apps were being downloaded per day. In the release today it showed that over the past month they have added over 3,000 apps and have crossed the 20,000 apps mark.
“BlackBerry smartphone users are downloading more than 2 million apps per day from BlackBerry App World on average and there are over 20,000 BlackBerry apps available today. RIM continues to support developers in order to provide apps that leverage the many advantages of the BlackBerry platform and deliver best-in-class mobile experiences.”
They have still a long way to catch up to Apple, Google… but RIM has always stated they are going for quality of apps rather than quantity.
