It’s a hard life sometimes for an Android user, often waiting countless months for vendors, and then carriers, to create and approve the software update your friend’s Nexus phone got right away. But leave it to the folks at XDA-Developers to pounce on leaked software and make it user-friendly.
A version of Gingerbread, Android 2.3.2, has been leaked for the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant, and it is compatible with Bell’s version. For the uninitiated, it will take a bit of hacking (and time) to get it working completely, and you will need to back up all of your important information first, but so far it seems like the device adds a bit of speed, a pinch of features, and a sprinkle of UI improvements — though no TouchWIZ 4, unfortunately. Maybe that’s going to coincide with the Galaxy S II release?
