Google has once again released the latest global distribution stats of their Android OS (this shows what OS people are currently using) . i believe this is the first time the chart is showing Android OS 3.0 Honeycomb (0.2%)- which gives a good indication of tablet sales to date. Most of the devices are being upgraded to OS 2.2 Froyo and for the report dated March 15th, 2011 Google reveals that 63.2% of all Android devices run OS 2.2 or higher… with OS 2.2 specifically making up 61.3% of all Android devices. OS 2.3 Gingerbread has 1.7% and Android 2.1 still has a big chunk of the pie at 29%.
Google recently stated they are activating more than 350,000 activations per day. For us Canadians we have several Android devices hitting Canadian carriers soon that all have OS 2.2 or higher: Nexus S, Fascinate 4G, Xperia arc, Atrix, Xperia Play.
Where is your device sitting at?
