IDC Research is expecting 1.5 million tablets will be sold in Canada by the end of 2011. There is no insight into the sales from each manufacturer but everyone will be dropping at least one new tablet this year: Apple with the iPad 2, Samsung with the Galaxy Tab 8.9 & 10.1, Motorola with the Xoom, RIM with the BlackBerry PlayBook and it now seems the HP TouchPad will hit Canadian soil soon too. A standard sign up page has been created on the Canadian HP site that simply wants your contact info to keep updated and says “Planned availability this summer. Be among the first to know.”
Notable specs of the TouchPad are that it runs webOS, has a 9.7-inch (1024×768 resolution) made with Gorilla Glass, true multitasking, WiFi, Front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera, 6300 mAh battery (8 hours of battery life) and a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
Now prices were listed.
