Phone numbers in Canada seem to be running out faster and faster these days, we can all thank wireless devices. Toronto was the latest city to be granted a new 437 area code and now British Columbia will be home to the new 236 area code. Current 250, 604 and 778 are expected to run out by August 2016 and the CRTC says 236 is being implemented on June 1, 2013 “to manage the telephone number shortage”. In addition, the CRTC has also set aside area code 672 for “future relief”.
