Earlier today Rogers announced that they will be releasing a number of LTE devices: Samsung Galaxy S II, Sierra Wireless AirCard 754S, LTE Tablet (they are currently talking to two manufacturers), plus and HTC smartphone.
Regarding the LTE Samsung Galaxy S II, this is certification testing now at Rogers and will be released in the Fall. Specs have the GSII coming with Android OS 2.3 Gingerbread, 1.2GHz dual core processor, 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display (resolution of 480×800), 8 megapixel camera with HD recording, Wi-Fi, 1850mAh battery and hopefully NFC (Near Field Communications) built-in.
No word on prices, but the LTE smartphones will have a different price points than regular smartphones.
I’m currently at a Rogers event and they have the LTE Samsung Galaxy S II on hand. I’ve uploaded a couple pics and a video will follow.
Update: Uploaded some more pics, also got the date changed the date to say today on the Galaxy S II. Taking a look around the GSII it seems to have the same overall specs and features as the current GSII from Bell, but has a glossy/smooth backing. In addition, the Android OS installed on this was 2.3.5 Gingerbread.
