The HTC Flyer launched earlier this year with a highly-modified and tabletized version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and a lingering promise that it would “one day” be updated to Honeycomb. We reviewed it, and really liked it despite the older software.
Well, that day has come, at least by word of mouth. HTC’s Facebook page has given us a short snippet of good news:
“Ready for some ‘sweet’ news? The GSM version of the HTC Flyer tablet, available in Europe, is beginning to receive updates to Honeycomb beginning today! Honeycomb brings a ton of improvements to Android on tablets, including the latest version of HTC Sense for Tablet with enhanced Internet browsing, Mail, Calendar and more all optimized for the 7″ screen. Not to be outdone, the WiFi version of the HTC Flyer will receive its Honeycomb update soon, too! Stay tuned for more details.“
The improvements to Sense UI are many, and we’ve already seen Honeycomb demonstrated on the 10″ Jetstream. Let’s hope it gets here sooner rather than later!
