The above image is pointing towards a future Facebook for Android app update, much bigger than the usual bug fixes. Engadget reports that the next major update will be version 1.8, currently we are sitting at version 1.7 so it should be coming soon. As to its features, you can expect a new UI layout, specifically bringing in new menu and search features, plus there looks to be a dedicated Places app called “Nearby” – which who knows, might include similar functions found in Gowalla (who they recently purchased). No word on when this upgrade will be available, but will be very welcomed by Android users.
