The ongoing whacked launch of the anticipated ASUS Transformer Prime has taken a turn for the better in Canada. After a few delays over an apparent Wi-Fi issue, our Canadian retailers confirmed that there is an “unexpected delay in receiving the items, and as a result, we are unable to ship the tablet on the date originally planned.” Certainly not the best news for those who pre-ordered this Android Honeycomb tablet. However, yesterday, TigerDirect Canada started to ship them out to customers… and now NCIX has reportedly sent out a mass email to eager Canadians thanking them for their patience and that they “are receiving our first batches of the 32GB Grey model” and the “item is now back In Stock”. In addition, Best Buy Canada sent a message to their customers that the new release date is scheduled for December 30th.
The Best Buy note is above, and here’s the email from NCIX:
“Thank you for your patience as we wait for our shipments of the ASUS Transformer Prime. We are receiving our first batches of the 32GB Grey model. Our inventory will be a mix of English & Bilingual packaged versions. Please note that the only difference is the packaging on the box and an extra -CBIL on the part number. The actual Transformer Prime unit itself is identical – there are no physical or specification changes otherwise.”
Let us know if you received your ASUS Transformer Prime today, or over the next few days.
(Thanks to everyone who sent this in!)
