Bell is stepping up its Mobile TV game this year big time. We knew they had legs with the NFL and NHL — heck, they received complaints about it — but if you are into watching sports on your mobile device this is going to be a banner year.
The company is announcing today they are bringing “top-rated sporting events available live on Bell Mobile TV,” including:
January 28 2012 Molson Canadian NHL All-Star Skills Competition
January 29 2012 Tim Hortons NHL All Star Game
January 29 Pro Bowl
February 5 Super Bowl XLVI
February 18-26 Scotties Tournament of Hearts
March 3-11 Tim Horton’s Brier Cup
March 10 Vancouver Whitecaps season begins
March 15 NCAA Basketball March Madness begins
April – May 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs
May- June 2012 Stanley Cup Final
You can buy Mobile TV subscriptions for $5 per month for 5 hours, and $1 per hour after that. Other content includes CTV, BNN and CBC News. Last count was that there were 300,000 Mobile TV subscribers, and that should only grow now that Bell has licensed more killer sports content.
Compatible devices range from the LG Optimus LTE to the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Nexus. Tablets include the Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE. Samsung devices support the AllShare DLNA feature which will stream your Mobile TV media to your TV or any connected device, while LG has its own DLNA app included.
You can download Mobile TV from the Android Marketplace if it isn’t bundled already on the device, while it is also available on the iPhone and BlackBerry.
