LG slightly teased the upcoming Optimus Vu in a promo video a few days ago – this was most representative of the Samsung Galaxy Note as it had huge specs. Today, well before showing this latest Android at Mobile World Congress, LG officially announced the Vu will be heading to Korea’s SK Telecom early March. This is an LTE-enabled device so it could very well arrive in Canada, but unfortunately there are no other details on any additional carriers.
As for specs, the Vu runs OS 2.3 Gingerbread but an upgrade to OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich “is already in the works”. In addition, the Vu “is a multimedia lover’s dream device” and has a 4:3 ratio, 5-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 768, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2,080 mAh battery, 8.5mm, HDMI, DLNA, 8MP with a and 1.3MP front-facing camera.
Probably the most incredible part is the re-introduction of the stylus, or what LG is calling the “Rubberdium pen”. Samsung also brought this back in the Note and called it the S Pen. LG said in the press release that the Optimus Vu “boasts unmatched productivity. Its unique built-in QuickClip hotkey allows users to conveniently capture screenshots and memos with a single push. Jotting notes is also possible with a finger or with the dedicated Rubberdium pen”.
Oh yes, overall dimensions of the Vu are 139.6 x 90.4 x 8.5mm.
