RIM came through and delivered on a promise to unleash PlayBook OS 2.0 by the end of February. While the world patiently waits for the BlackBerry 10 smartphones to arrive later this year, it’s time to see them fulfil on a promise they made a year ago.
During Mobile World Congress 2011 RIM stated in a press release that they would be launch an LTE-enabled PlayBook: “Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ:RIMM)(TSX:RIM) today announced plans to launch two additional BlackBerry 4G PlayBook tablets during the second half of 2011, featuring support for LTE and HSPA+ high speed wide area wireless networks.”
Over the past year things didn’t go as planned for our tech darling RIM, but they seem to be on a path to possibly greatness once again. We’ve been informed that the “PlayBook 4G LTE” will be hitting store shelves “Early April”. So far we know this will be available at Bell, but it should hit both Rogers and TELUS’ LTE networks as well. No details on the pricing or any other additional specs.
In addition, you can also expect to see a full rollout of RIM’s BlackBerry Mobile Fusion sometime in March.
We’ll have more info soon!
