TELUS currently offers the AppleCare Protection Plan for $78.99, but come April 16th this will vanish and be replaced with AppleCare+ for $99.99. TELUS is saying that it’s “end of life for the AppleCare Protection Plan,” and what AppleCare+ will offer your iPhone (3GS, 4 or 4S) is 2-years of technical support and repair coverage, plus this now covers “up to two incidents of accidental damage from handling, each subject to a $49 service fee.”
The internal doc we received states that “AppleCare+ is electronically activated with the customer’s iPhone at the time of purchase and requires no inventory be stocked… AppleCare+ (AC+) is a boxless product. Customers who wish to purchase AppleCare+ coverage for their iPhone will be activated via the TELUS AppleCare+ site“… so you’ll have to visit a TELUS location to get this added feature.
Look out for this change on April 16th.
