When RIM officially announced the BlackBerry PlayBook they also stated that a 4G and LTE version will be released. It’s been a year since that conversation and the tablet has popped up online in leaked pictures, plus recently passed through the approval process at the FCC. We previously posted a Bell internal doc that showed the an LTE-enabled BlackBerry PlayBook with a tentative launch date of “Early April”.
New pics of the tablet have arrived courtesy of CrackBerry forum member Fakedeadmau5 who states he that “I have a 4G playbook”, but in actuality he has 3 evaluation units in his possession. There was a slot for the 4G SIM card – but oddly didn’t have a SIM handy to test it out. In addition, there was an icon for “Mobile Network” and also a BBM icon – so it finally seems that BlackBerry Messenger has been installed.
We’ll most likely see the 4G PlayBook be officially announced in May at BlackBerry World.
