LG has been known to do some interesting things to compete in the mobile industry, including releasing a 3D-capable phone at a time when no one was sure it was the right thing to do. Turns out it was, since it is the only manufacturer to release a second-generation 3D-capable device in the upcoming Optimus 3D Cube.
It seems, however, that despite an upcoming lineup of nearly ten phones, including the high-end Optimus 4X HD, LG isn’t satisfied with its upcoming crop, and plans to release a newer, faster, better flagship device in May dubbed “D1L.”
The device is expected to come with a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display, and a 1.5Ghz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor; unlike the Tegra 3-powered Optimus 4X HD, the D1L will be LTE-enabled. According to an unnamed LG source, it will also be the company’s premiere Android smartphone, shipping with Android 4.0.3 before any other (which is interesting since the Optimus 4X HD was already shown off running Ice Cream Sandwich).
Is 4.7-inches too big for a smartphone, or would you be into an LG device of that size?
