If you a Bell customer, live in Whitehorse or Peterborough, interested in faster data speeds, then you’ll want to mark April 13th (tomorrow) on your calendar. This is when they will be turning on LTE (Long Term Evolution) in the area. We don’t have the live coverage map for you, but Bell does show a “future” coverage of Peterborough on their website. Peak LTE download speeds can reach up to 75Mbps, but Bell notes that the average is between 12-25Mbps (we’ve seen upwards of 30Mbps+).
Bell’s LTE network reaches over 6 million Canadians and these two areas now brings the total number of LTE locations to 17: Belleville, Guelph, Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, Toronto, London, Ottawa, Cambridge, Montreal, Quebec City, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Halifax, Dartmouth and Yellowknife.
As for LTE-capable devices, Bell currently has the Samsung Galaxy Note, LG Optimus LTE, HTC Raider, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE and the Novatel Wireless U679 Turbo Stick. Coming up will be the LTE Sierra Wireless 330U Turbo Stick.
We’ll have more info soon…
