Google announced today that they will sunset the often-used by now-obsolete Google Sync app for BlackBerry smartphones on June 1st. Since RIM updated to the latest version of BlackBerry Internet Service, it is now possible to keep your contacts and calendar entries in sync natively, avoiding the often-frustrating duplication problems users experienced when restoring from Google Sync.
The company said on its official blog, “If you currently use Google Sync for BlackBerry, we encourage you to switch to BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) or the Google Apps Connector for BlackBerry Enterprise Servergoing forward. These alternatives offer a better overall experience, as you can sync your email messages, calendar and contacts through a single service.”
