A few days ago Samsung Canada stated the upgrade to Android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich would be available to various devices sometime “this week,” including the Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note, Galaxy S II LTE, Tab 7.0 and Tab 8.9. The timing of the carrier rollout was not known, but we can confirm that Bell will be pushing out the update for the Galaxy S II to their customers.
In the internal doc we received it states “Bell is pleased to announce Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is now available for Samsung Galaxy S II. Bell is first carrier in Canada to release this major OS update to our clients. It is recommended that clients update their device to the latest version of software to ensure the best possible experience.”
No word yet on when other carriers will push out ICS for other GS II variants such as TELUS, Rogers and SaskTel, but clearly Bell is proud to be the first to make this available.
Update: The OS will be pushed through tomorrow, May 3rd
Update #2: OK Bell users, we’re now getting reports that the upgrade being pushed through. Let us know in the comments if you’re getting it.
