Facebook for iOS hasn’t always been the most reliable app but in iOS 6 Apple will integrate the social network directly into the app. Along with support to post directly from the Notification Center you will be able to log into the service from the Settings menu and avoid having to sign in multiple times when using Facebook Connect. Contacts and calendar integration is expected, too, in addition to Siri support.
According to a Facebook post, “we’re working on a major update to the Facebook SDK for iOS that will launch in the coming weeks. It includes significant new features and enhancements that make it easier to add Facebook to your iOS apps, along with support for the Facebook integration in iOS 6. Stay tuned!”
We’re hoping that the app itself improves as a result, but considering the number of apps that use Facebook Connect as their primary login mechanism, this news is good which ever way you slice it.
