Back in May there was a rumour that Google, along with five other manufacturers, would release 5 Nexus branded devices this year. The reason for the onslaught of Nexus devices was to celebrate Android’s 5th anniversary. Nothing has surfaced since this rumour, but today there might be a bit of progress.
The HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus has the model number of GT-i9250, but now an internal doc has found itself online, courtesy of SamMobile, and claims to be a follow-up to this flagship Nexus. The model number is GT-i9260 and goes by the codename of “Superior.” The specs are somewhat better, but not by far. The “Superior” reportedly has a 1.5GHz dual-core Cortex-A9 processor, 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED screen, 8MP camera and a 2MP front-facing camera, plus surprisingly sport a microSD card slot.
Certainly not a massive bump up in specs, which could point towards an entry-level Nexus and possibly be one of the rumoured five Nexus releases. The release date of the “Superior” is pegged for November 2012 and lines up with all the previous Nexus launch dates, which also is Google’s 5th anniversary. So lots of speculation here… all rumours for now.
