Nokia to announce two devices at September 5th Windows Phone 8 event: Rumour

In case you didn’t think Nokia and Microsoft were wholly serious about making up for lost time, they are set to co-release two devices on September 5th. According to a source at The Verge, Nokia will announce the high-end ‘Phi’ and mid-range ‘Arrow’ handsets, the former launching exclusively on AT&T and the latter on both AT&T and T-Mobile. This will possibly lead to a similar situation in Canada, where Rogers gets the Lumia 1000 or whatever it’s called and other carriers share the mid-range device.

The ‘Phi’ is to look similar to the leaked prototype we saw earlier this month, with that unique colourful polycarbonate body and smooth, round edges that we loved on the Lumia 800 and 900. It’s said to have a 4.7-inch 1280×720 pixel display. No word on whether the ‘Arrow’ will resemble the Lumia 710 but we wouldn’t bet on it.

Both devices will, obviously, be running Windows Phone 8 and feature dual-core Snapdragon S4 processors and likely 1GB RAM. NFC support and microSD card slots are also being added to Windows Phone 8, bringing the feature set to par with current Android devices.
