Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD tablet re-announced after hardware improvements, coming later this year

Huawei’s MediaPad 10 FHD has been previewed already, but was recently retooled and re-announced as a result of market changes.

The 10.1-inch tablet now rocks an in-house 1.4Ghz quad-core K3V2 Cortex-A9 processor with a 16-core GPU, 1GB RAM, an 8MP camera, optional LTE connectivity and a screen resolution of 1920×1200. Inside there is a 6600mAh battery for 10-hours of usage. It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Huawei’s custom skin.

The tab is Huawei’s major tablet push into international markets, and shows that the company isn’t messing around about competing with Samsung, LG and Sony. The MediaPad 10 is made of aluminum and weighs 580g, keeping it sturdy and tough without being too heavy.

There’s also an optional keyboard dock to turn the device into “a ultrabook” as Huawei puts in its press release, though we’re guessing it will be hard to mirror most laptop functionality with Android.

The MediaPad 10 FHD will be released in select countries in September and follow up with a global launch later in the year. We’re hoping it will come to Canada, and stay tuned for more information on the tablet.
