TELUS has about 7.5 million wireless subscribers and a new five-year $25 million deal with Telehop offers customers cheaper long distance rates. You probably know Telehop as the company with the dial-around long distance 10-10-100, but this agreement with TELUS’ mobile business is the “first of its kind” in Canada.
All you need to do is dial #100 before the long distance number and the associated charges will show up on your monthly bill. Just in case you get something sketchy shows up on your invoice, Telehop ensures that “the new service is available immediately and does not require customers to sign up or purchase cards. There are no network charges or monthly fees, and no hidden costs or long distance charges.” This is available for prepaid and postpaid customers and apparently the rates are as low as $0.05/minute.
Rajiv Jagota, President and CEO of Telehop, said “TELUS should be congratulated for breaking new ground in the mobile sector in North America. This agreement has set the bar for other carriers in Canada and the US.”
