Google has just opened up orders for their new round of devices: Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and the Nexus 7 32GB 3G. All these are available to us Canadians, via Google Play, for a bit more than US prices. Shiiping will take a bit to get up North, Google states about 3 days.
The Nexus 4 is unlocked and costs $309 for the 8GB model, $359 for the 16GB model. Specs of the purest Nexus smartphone yet have it coming with OS 4.2 Jelly Bean, a 1.5GHz Quad-Core processor, 4.7-inch WXGA True HD IPS Plus display (resolution of 1280 x 768), 2GB RAM, 8MP camera and a 1.3MP front-facing camera, NFC, 2,100mAh battery, weighs in at 139 grams and is 9.1mm thin.
The Nexus 7 32GB version now has 3G capabilities and has the same overal specs of the other models, just priced higher at $309 outright. Also unlocked. As for the Samsung Nexus 10 – another tablet – and comes in at 10-inches, unlocked, runs OS 4.2 Jelly Bean and has “the world’s highest resolution tablet display” at 2560 x 1600. The Nexus 10 has Samsung’s dual-core Exynos 5 SoC chipset, 9000mAh battery, 2GB RAM, NFC, 5MP camera and a 1.9MP front-facing camera. Overall dimensions are 263.9 x 177.6 x 8.9 mm and weighs in at 603 grams. The price: $409 for the 16GB and $509 for the 32GB.
Update: It seems that the 16GB Nexus 4 is still “coming soon,” but the 8GB version is available. I ordered one – will give it away in a contest – but I had to refresh and press the proceed button a few times.
Update #2: It looks like both the 8GB and 16GB versions of the Nexus 4 are sold out on the Canadian Play Store. We’ll be checking back throughout the day, but to us it looked like the Nexus 4 16GB never actually went on sale to some people. Amazing demand for these devices!
