The BlackBerry Z10 was release 3 weeks ago and while no Canadian carrier has gone on record to announce the number of sales, all have expressed some sort of optimism towards the new device. The Z10 is currently available at Rogers, Bell, TELUS, Fido, Koodo, Virgin and SaskTel and will soon launch on WIND Mobile, MTS, Mobilicity and Videotron.
GLENTEL, parent-company of retailer WIRELESSWAVE, sent us a note that is somewhat telling, but is still shy of giving specific sales numbers. Apparently their 330+ Canadian locations have seen “strong customer acceptance” and “was the leading smartphone sold” in February. Considering there’s still a few days to go this unknown number of devices sold will probably increase.
The WIRELESSWAVE Group in Canada commented that the newly released BlackBerry Z10 was the leading smartphone sold within its stores since the February 5th launch by BlackBerry.
“We are delighted with strong customer acceptance and customer experience within our stores of the new BlackBerry Z10 smartphone,” stated David Hartman, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of WIRELESSWAVE Group, GLENTEL Inc.
“We are thrilled with the launch success of the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone in Canada,” stated Andrew MacLeod, Managing Director of Canada at BlackBerry. “In fact, it was more than 50% better than any other launch day in our history in Canada. GLENTEL has been a strong partner of BlackBerry and the success of the BlackBerry Z10 in their Canadian retail locations is exceptional.”
True sales numbers for the Z10 will be revealed when BlackBerry announced its quarterly results. So far the counties to release the Z10 are Canada, United Kingdom, India, UAE and is coming to the United States in March. The QWERTY/touchscreen Q10 will be released in Canada next in the coming weeks.
