Google is rolling out that leaked Play Store update sooner than we thought. Expected to be released at Google I/O next month, the company has announced it will launch today in select markets, with a worldwide rollout in the coming weeks.
The update brings a cleaner, lighter interface that mimics and integrates many of Google Now’s aesthetic advantages while staying true to the colour-rich palette of the legacy Play Store. Considering the marketplace hasn’t seen a significant design overhaul since it was called the Android Market, this is a big deal.
Unfortunately for Canadians, this doesn’t coincide with any new features — no music purchases just yet — but hopefully that will come in due time.
Update: Android Police has obtained the link to the official APK. Head over there for several mirrors.
Update #2: Hold off downloading for now. Most of the back-end features have not yet been rolled out to Canadians, so you’re going to see this rather than what you see above.
