Reeder for iOS has long been the standard bearer for excellent design, seamless Google Reader integration and fast synchronization speed. But given that Google Reader is shutting down on July 1st, app developers have been scrambling to find alternative RSS backends.

The developer of Reeder, Silvio Rizzi, has added one such service in lieu of Google Reader’s shutdown; Feedbin, a $2/month service, works quite similarly to Reader, and has a number of apps across Android and iOS that have integrated with its back-end infrastructure.

Rizzi has also added local RSS to Reeder if syncing isn’t important to you. It’s a free alternative to Feedbin and the already-integrated Fever. Also new in version 3.1 is pull-to-refresh and a host of bug fixes.
