Only days after going on sale in the US, the LTE version of Google’s Nexus 7 refresh is now available in Canada.
Costing an identical $349 as our southern neighbours, the Android 4.3-based slate is one of our favourite tablets at the moment, and is virtually identical to its WiFi cousin but for a few grams of added weight.
In addition to dual-band WiFi, the device is loaded with pentaband HSPA+ support, which includes WIND and Mobilicity, along with LTE support for Rogers, Bell, TELUS and their subsidiaries. The device comes unlocked and should only require purchasing a SIM card from your carrier and registering it, either with a tablet data plan or, if subscribed to one of the new share plans, adding it to your account. The compatible frequencies are as follows:
- LTE: 700/850/1700/1800/1900/2100 MHz
- HSPA+: 850/900/1900/2100/AWS (1700/2100) MHz
It’s important to note that the cellular version only comes in one SKU, which includes 32GB of internal storage, which obviously adds to the price. Still, at $349, this is one of the most feature-packed and future-proof tablets on the market. Google is also offering free ground shipping with the device, and it ships in 1-2 business days.
