Samsung has partnered with PayPal to bring easier payments to its Android app store and Hub.
Samsung Apps developers can use PayPal to facilitate payments for their apps submitted to the store, while users in certain countries can use the payment service to pay for apps. Unfortunately, Canada is not on that payment launch list — Australia, Italy, France, Germany, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, and the U.K. are the ones — but it should come to North America in the coming months.
The OEM is trying to differentiate its Hub, where it sells movies, music, books and magazines alongside apps, by partnering with top-name developers and, in this case payment processors, to make purchasing easier. Though there is little content in Samsung’s app store that distinguishes it from Google Play in general, with the release of the Galaxy Gear smart watch and its reliance on the Hub, people will begin spending more time in it.
