Coming off the yesterday’s news of BlackBerry hiring former SAP exec John Sims to lead their Enterprise Services Business, they’ve announced another couple execs are joining the Waterloo-based company.
James S. Mackey has been appointed EVP for Corporate Development and Strategic Planning, and Mark Wilson has been named Senior VP of Marketing. Mackey previously worked as SVP of Corporate Development at Open Text, and lead the same position at SAP. As for Wilson, his latest role was the CMO of Avaya.
Seems like John Chen, Executive Chair and CEO of BlackBerry, is stacking the BlackBerry exec team with people he knows can turn companies around, as he’s worked with both individuals in the past. Chen stated that Mackey and Wilson will “add the necessary leadership and depth that will help us drive our transformation… and we have developed close and trusted relationships with each other that will enable us to cohesively manage the changes required to reshape BlackBerry.”
These hires will hopefully instil some much needed faith into the BlackBerry business. The company is set to report its Q3 results on Friday and will also give an update on the future of the business.
