BlackBerry hires Eric Johnson as President of Global Sales

Another week, another executive hire at BlackBerry.

Eric Johnson will join the company as President of Global Sales and will report directly to CEO, John Chen.

BlackBerry previously announced Mark Wilson as Senior VP of Marketing and John Sims as head of Enterprise Services. Both these execs came from SAP, as did Johnson, by serving as their SVP and GM of Global Database and Technology.

Chen stated in a press release, “I am pleased to round out BlackBerry’s new executive leadership team with another outstanding addition today. I have worked with Eric extensively and have tremendous respect for his sales expertise and customer centric approach to business. Our carriers, partners, distributors and enterprise customers will benefit greatly from Eric’s approach. The experience that the majority of the new leadership team has in working together previously will drive change within the organization at a faster pace. I look forward to demonstrating these changes to the market.”

BlackBerry has over 79 million customers and 100 million BBM users around the world and will be “going back to it’s roots” to service the enterprise market. The company recently committed to open a “Security Innovation Center” in Washington, D.C. that will integrate them deeper with government agencies and address their mobile security issues.

BlackBerry also noted that they now aim “to inspire the success of our millions of customers around the world by continuously pushing the boundaries of mobile experiences.”
