Microsoft reveals Windows Phone 8.1 support lifecycle

Microsoft’s support team has revealed the official start and end dates for the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1 OS release. Microsoft will officially start supporting the OS on June 24th, and — barring large asteroids or alien invasions — kill support in July of 2017. This coincides with the expected rollout of Windows Phone 8.1 for in-market devices, but not the release of the first new Windows Phone 8.1 handsets, like the Nokia Lumia 635, which should drop in May. Those interested in the new Lumias may want to wait a month before picking one up, just in case Microsoft encounters a serious software problem at the worst possible time.

Any Windows Phone 7.8 users should also take note that Microsoft will be killing mainstream software support September 9th of this year. More info can be found below at the source link.
