Firefox OS developers have a new handset to play with. This week, non-profit open web proponent Mozilla commenced pre-orders for the Flame, its first official developer handset for FireFox OS. Pre-orders are being handled through everbuying.com, and Canadian shipping is available at a variety of timeframes; the Flame will retail for $170 USD.
The Flame is distinctly mid-tier as a device, which should suit the FireFox OS target demographic of emerging markets nicely. It features a 4.5 inch, 854 x 480 pixel display, a dual-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon processor, 5MP camera with flash, 8GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM.
Mozilla expects to start shipping the handsets out to developers sometime before June 30th but the Flame pre-order will end June 10th, so developers interested in picking one up should act quickly. The Flame pre-order page can be found at the source link below.
