With more than one manufacturer now selling a 6-inch smartphone, what we consider small, medium and large in the smartphone space is certainly shifting. And then you have the ‘mini’ phones, which are more commonly pared down in specs rather than size. The HTC’s rumoured Desire 820 Mini is no different.
Chinese-language site MyDrivers reports that the HTC Desire 820 Mini cropped up on a Chinese shopping site before being hastily pulled. The device is rumoured to pack a 5-inch 720p display, a quad-core 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage (plus a MicroSD slot), a 5MP front camera, an 8MP camera in the back, and support for LTE.
Alongside the full-sized Desire 820, which is just half an inch bigger, these specs aren’t much to write home about. In case you need reminding, the HTC Desire 820 was announced in September and pitched as a 64-bit selfie phone. It boasts a 64-bit octa-core CPU (the Snapdragon 615) with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a 13MP camera in the back, and an 8MP camera up front. A lot beefier than its ‘mini’ counterpart.
There’s no indication of when the Desire 820 Mini will launch, though we also don’t have an official announcement from HTC. The original 820 is scheduled for worldwide availability. It launched in India this past weekend.
