Motorola’s Droid Turbo might be exclusive to Verizon in the United States but the company will sell the device elsewhere, just under a different name.
The company this week announced the Moto Maxx, a beast of a device with specs that match the guts of the Droid Turbo. The phone is based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset with a quad-core 2.7 GHz Krait 450 CPU and Adreno 420 graphics. This is coupled with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.
The display is a Super AMOLED 5.2-inch panel with a 1440 x 2560 resolution (565 ppi). The rear-facing camera packs a 21MP sensor with autofocus and dual-LED flash. Of particular note is the battery, which is a whopping 3900mAh. If you do manage to burn through that, the device comes with support for fast charging, which will get you up to eight hours of power in just 15 minutes of charging.
On the software side, users are treated to the same close-to-stock Android experience that we’ve been enjoying on the Moto X and Moto G, with Motorola’s own customizations to voice commands and gestures.
Rather disappointingly, it doesn’t look like this device will be making it to Canada anytime soon. Motorola said on Wednesday that the Moto Maxx would be available in Brazil and Mexico this month from motorola.com and promised availability for other Latin American countries soon. Unfortunately, the company mentioned nothing about Europe, Canada, or any of the Asian markets.
