If you’re among those that find the SMS functionality to be thoroughly inconvenient or confusing, we have some good news. Google is rolling out a brand new standalone messaging application for Android users.
Google Messenger hit the Play Store yesterday afternoon and is the same as the messenger app we encountered during our review. This app offers a UI that fits in with Material Design as well as faster sharing, the ability to search contacts and conversation threads, the ability to block SMS senders, and support for audio messages, emoji, coloured text threads, and message archive.
This new Android Messenger requires Android 4.1 Jelly Bean or higher.
