We already know that the BlackBerry Classic will see support from a number of Canadian carriers. Rogers, Bell, Virgin and SaskTel have all confirmed the device’s upcoming release on their networks and today we received word from WIND Mobile that it too will launch Classic. Similar to others, WIND plans to release the Classic in black for around $500 outright.
Speaking to MobileSyrup during an interview this morning, WIND Mobile CEO Pietro Cordova revealed that while the company won’t be carrying the Passport, BlackBerry’s newest phone will be available on WIND Mobile.
“There are huge devices coming out,” Cordova said during a conversation about WIND Mobile’s device portfolio. “The new BlackBerrys are out. We don’t carry the Passport because that is really a business device and our customer base is not a business customer base, but we will have the Classic.”
However, WIND Mobile customers hoping to get their hands on the Classic in time for the holidays will have to wait as it doesn’t look like it’ll be available before the month is out. When asked about availability, Cordova told us, “The new [BlackBerrys] will not deliver until next year.”
A recent Tweet by WIND noted that the “BlackBerry Classic will be landing at WIND next month!”
