Hyundai to launch Android Wear app at CES 2015

Smartwatch adoption continues to grow as manufacturers experiment with different form factors and functions on the hardware side. Similarly, though year is tipped to be huge for wearables (and smartwatches specifically), consumers are also still figuring out just how this new breed of consumer electronics will fit into our lives.

Hyundai sees us connecting our watches and phones to our cars (as does BMW) and will take to Las Vegas next week to unveil a new app for smartwatch-toting Hyundai owners.

Dubbed Hyundai Blue Link, the smartwatch app will feature remote start, lock, and unlock as well as support for voice commands. Users will also be able to receive service information to their wrist or phone, and will be able to find their car in a crowded lot using a special “Find my car” feature.

Last week, BMW announced plans to show off a fully automated parking system at CES. This system will utilize Samsung’s Gear S (which runs on Tizen) and will be able to park your car in an indoor parkade after you’ve left your vehicle as well as summon your car to the entrance of the parkade when you’re ready to leave. Connected cars and wearables have featured prominently at CES in past years but 2015 will see these categories mesh to really come into their own as integrated IoT solutions.
