After multiple leaks, the HTC One M9+ is finally official.
The new smartphone was formally introduced today in Beijing, China. It comes with several features that set it apart from its smaller M9 cousin.
The most notable upgrade is its display. The One M9+ comes equipped with a 5.2-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440) LCD screen. This is a significant improvement over the M9’s 1080p display.
Inside, the One M9+ is equipped with a MediaTek Helio X10 processor. This eight core processor comes clocked at 2.2GHz. This marks the first time HTC gone with a MediaTek processor on one of its phones. In terms of RAM, the device comes with 3GB.
The phone also comes with a fingerprint sensor and a 20MP back-facing camera. For one’s selfie taking needs, there’s a 4MP sensor on the front of the device.
HTC has yet to say when the phone will be released, or how much it will cost when it comes out.
However, in a statement to MobileSyrup, an HTC spokesperson said the phone likely won’t be coming to Canada. “The One M9+ is not currently planned to be released in North America or Europe, where we believe our flagship HTC One M9 is the best choice for blazing fast performance, incredible sound, and network compatibility across the broadest range of operators.”
For the time being, it looks like Canadian HTC fans will have to be content with the regular M9.
