Rumours of Samsung coming to market with a round smartwatch has been, ahem, circling for months. Previously tipped to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress, Samsung’s is reportedly referring internally to the product as “Orbis,” which means orb or circle.
According to SamMobile, the accessory will come to market as “Gear A,” and is reportedly the “most premium smartwatch from Samsung yet.” There will be two variants of the Gear A: a Bluetooth and WiFi-only model, and a 3G version with WiFi connectivity. It was previously reported that there will be a touch-sensitive ring along the perimeter of the the watch face that will move some of the interaction from the touchscreen itself.
There is no indication as to when or if this smartwatch will be available, or at what price point. Competing manufacturers, such as Apple, LG, Sony, Asus, Motorola, and Huawei have recently launched new smartwatches.
