If the Nextbit Robin has shown anything, it’s that people are excited for something that’s a bit different, even if it’s coming from a company that has a lot to prove. After launching on Kickstarter with an initial funding goal of $500,000 USD, the cloud-based Android smartphone has raised a little over $1-million.
That means that anyone that backed the device will receive a complimentary quick charger when the Robin ships early next year, thanks to an initial stretch goal.
The company has also outlined additional stretch goals. If the Robin crowdfunding campaign reaches $1.25-million, then Nextbit will send backers a free t-shirt (pictured below); at $1.5-million, it will give backers 129GB of free cloud storage instead of 100GB.
Amusingly, the odd storage number is a poke at the iPhone. “You all deserve at least 1 more GB than everyone who just spent $850 ($1,289 CAD) on a brand new iPhone,” says the most recent update from Nextbit.
Lastly, the company showcased some case prototypes, which can be seen below. The company says each different case design will come in a variety of colours.
