The OnePlus X, the next smartphone from Chinese startup OnePlus, will be announced as soon as next month, according to a new report.
The information comes courtesy of GizmoChina, the same website that found and published the initial renders of the OnePlus X. Thanks to its own “factory sources,” GizmoChina was also able to ascertain that the OnePlus X will feature a 5-inch screen and a Snapdragon 801 SoC — in addition to its previously rumoured dual camera set up and fingerprint scanner.
The inclusion of Qualcomm’s 2014 flagship chipset is interesting because OnePlus reportedly plans to sell the OnePlus X for $250 USD. It’s fair to say that OnePlus chose the 801 because it allows the company to ship a relatively affordable smartphone without sacrificing the phone’s performance.
While the next smartphone from OnePlus may look nothing like the one presented by GizmoChina, a new device from the company is certainly coming. In an interview with USA Today, OnePlus CEO Carl Pei told the publication his company has plans to launch a new smartphone in time for the holiday season.
