Rogers has resumed, now for the third time, the rollout of its Android 5.1.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge.
After the initial rollout was paused in early September due to unspecific bugs found in the code, Rogers resumed the update in early October. But that, too, was halted after severe connectivity issues cropped up when users were connected to the company’s LTE network.
According to Rogers, which released a statement on Friday, the issue was due to Samsung’s implementation of Voice over LTE (VoLTE) support on the new devices, which allows users to stay connected to a high-speed (and higher-quality) LTE network while making phone calls.
Now, Rogers is taking a more measured approach, releasing the update in small batches between today, November 16th, and November 30th, to ensure nothing goes awry.
The build number, 3BOJ7, continues to run Android 5.1.1. To check whether your phone is among the first devices slated to be upgraded, head to your device settings –> About device –> Software update.
